We are a forward-thinking Cleantech Team leading new ventures in sustainable technologies under LG NOVA. Our mission is to harness the power of software to create scalable, impactful solutions that address some of the world’s most pressing environmental challenges with LG NOVA Ecosystem Partners and the Coalition for Innovation. We are seeking a dynamic leader as Entrepreneur-in-Residence (EIR) to join our team and lead the development of groundbreaking software-centric solutions in the clean tech space, particularly in the energy sector (Renewable energy, Power Grids, Electric Mobility, energy storage, clean industry and transportation, electrified heat, hydrogen), and ultimately become one of the co-founders of venture spun out from the Cleantech Team. This position will be based in LG NOVA’s newest office in Morgantown, West Virginia, but will collaborate extensively with the LG NOVA headquarters based in Silicon Valley. This can be a hybrid position.

Entrepreneur-In-Residence Position Summary
LG is seeking a Entrepreneur-In-Residence to join the Incubation division at the recently opened LG NOVA office based in the West Virginia.  This position will play a critical role in unlocking the next chapter of transformational growth for this over $70 billion-dollar global tech company. The goal of the innovation division is to identify and grow new cleantech businesses for the next chapter of LG in collaboration with other startups and partners.

The EIR will be an integral part of our innovation team, focusing on identifying, developing, and launching new software-driven clean tech ventures in collaboration with startup partners. This role is ideal for a seasoned or aspiring entrepreneur with a strong background in software development (engineering, product management, business development or other similar experience) and a passion for Cleantech.

The EIR will work closely with our startup partners, engineers, and leadership team as well as universities/businesses in West Virginia to conceptualize and bring to market innovative software-centric Cleantech solutions.

Roles and Responsibilities
Responsibilities for this position include but are not limited to:

  • Venture Ideation and Development: Jointly identify and evaluate new business opportunities in the clean tech space in collaboration with ecosystem startups. Develop business models, conduct market research, and validate concepts through customer engagement and pilot programs.
  • Product Development: Lead the development of software solutions from ideation to launch, working with cross-functional teams including product management, engineering, and marketing.
  • NOVA Strategic Partnerships: Be open-minded and jointly develop business proposals with NOVA Ecosystem partners (Startups, Coalition for Innovation, and other external partners including universities/businesses located in West Virginia).
  • Process and Budget Management: Lead business proposals, manage budgets and resources effectively to maximize the impact and success of new ventures.
  • Team-work and Leadership: Work closely with other team members and entrepreneurs within the organization. Foster a culture of innovation and collaboration.
  • Market Analysis: Stay abreast of industry trends, competitive landscape, and emerging technologies in the clean tech and software sectors. Provide insights and recommendations to inform strategic decision-making.

Key Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience in technology, product development, commercialization and/or strategy for the energy market. Experience leading and launching successful startups/products/ventures in Cleantech from idea to scale (climate technology, mobility, energy management, and/or sustainability) is a plus.
  • BS in CS, Engineering, Science, Business, product management or related domain experience in Cleantech. An MBA or other relevant master’s degree is a plus.
  • Strong background in software-centric Cleantech solutions is preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to build and lead cross-functional teams, and work with external partners.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate with diverse stakeholders.
  • Passion for clean tech and a commitment to creating a positive environmental impact.
