Lead AI & Product Architect

We are seeking a Lead AI & Product Architect to complete the development of Raffy™, an AI-powered emotional-support teddy bear designed to help children facing trauma, illness, anxiety, and fear feel safe, heard, and supported.

Raffy’s software platform is already approximately 50% built.

An experienced engineer who developed the first phase will provide full technical handoff and onboarding to bring you up to speed on the existing codebase, architecture, and AI pipeline.

This role will lead Raffy through the final phase of development — enabling a child to talk to Raffy, receive emotionally intelligent responses, and feel comforted through a secure, child-safe AI system connected to a companion mobile app and/or will be participating with an existing wellness-monitoring company that makes buttons for healthcare features (heart rate, sleep, temperature, oxygen, etc.).

You will be responsible for:

• Completing and deploying a HIPAA- and COPPA-compliant conversational AI
• Finalizing voice interaction and emotional-intelligence modeling
• Integrating cloud AI, mobile app, and embedded hardware
• Designing secure backend systems and APIs
• Preparing Raffy for pilot programs with hospitals, advocacy centers, and families

This is a founding-level leadership role with the opportunity to help shape a groundbreaking children’s mental-health and wellness platform.

Required Skills & Experience

We are looking for a builder, not just a coder — someone who can bring a complex, emotionally sensitive product to life.

Technical Expertise

• 7+ years experience in AI, full-stack, or product engineering
• Strong background in LLMs, conversational AI, or voice-enabled systems
• Experience integrating speech-to-text, text-to-speech, and NLP pipelines
• Proficiency in Python, Node.js, or similar backend frameworks
• Experience with mobile app backends, APIs, and cloud infrastructure (AWS, GCP, or Azure)
• Familiarity with embedded systems, IoT, or wearable-style devices a plus

Security & Compliance

• Experience building HIPAA-compliant and/or COPPA-compliant systems
• Knowledge of secure data handling, encryption, authentication, and child-safe data architecture
• Ability to design privacy-first AI systems for children and healthcare environments

Product & Leadership

• Experience taking a product from prototype to production
• Comfortable working in a startup / founder-led environment
• Able to evaluate, refactor, and complete an existing codebase
• Strong documentation and collaboration skills for handoff and future scaling

Salary: $38,000 – $68,000 (Salary is a contracted job for the completion of project with potential to work together through the life of Battle Buddy Bears)
