The Institute for Community and Rural Health at West Virginia University Research Corporation is currently accepting applications for a (Remote) Program Manager

About the Opportunity

The Program Manager for Food System Development and Community Transformation leads program and project management, marketing, stakeholder communication, and supporting the development of project deliverables for the USDA Increasing Land, Capital, and Market Access cooperative agreement, titled Working Lands of Central Appalachia.

What You’ll Do

  • Manages multi-state, regional programs and projects.
  • Develops and maintains budgeting and accounting for projects
  • Develop and ensure the use of detailed workplans and timelines to guide achievement of grant partnership and contract commitments.
  • Leads and supports organizational and community capacity building efforts, including
  • Direct and contribute to research and evaluation activities through participation on interdisciplinary research and evaluation team.
  • Coordinate day to day productivity and tasks for meeting all active targets and deadlines.
  • Organize and coordinate project activities across internal departments and between external partners.
  • Work with partners to identify and resolve issues that may adversely impact projects.
  • Track and report project milestones.
  • Spearheads Marketing for programs and projects
  • Develops Communication plans for internal stakeholders
  • Provide status reports at assigned intervals and monitor compliance.
  • Ensure adherence to all policies and procedures relative to the cooperative agreement.
  • Work as part of a team to assure timely reporting of project measures.
  • Assure appropriate accounting of expenditures and monitoring of subaward expenditures.
 Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required, MS/MA preferred.
  • A minimum of three (3) years of experience:
    • Experience in program management and administration
    • Report writing
  • Any equivalent combination of related education and/or experience will be considered.
  • All qualifications must be met by the time of employment.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Provide leadership for developing and implementing innovative and evidence-based public health interventions focused on food security and equity.
  • Direct, manage, implement, coordinate, and monitor food-related policies, programs and initiatives.
  • Develop and ensure the use of detailed workplans and timelines to guide achievement of grant contract partnership commitments.
  • Strong time management and organizational abilities for completing detailed administrative, communications, and other assigned tasks.
  • Demonstrated writing skills (English fluency) for published content designed for a variety of audiences and mediums, proposal preparation, reporting and other assigned tasks.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to work with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders and communities.
  • Takes initiative, self-starter, self-directed, and the ability to work effectively in a team.
  • Ability to meet deadlines and manage multiple concurrent tasks.
  • Ability to learn new policies, procedures, and the language of contracts and compliance.
  • Knowledge of or ability to learn web development software.
  • Proficiency using Microsoft Office software, including SharePoint, Teams, Excel, Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint.

 

Requirements 
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification preferred.

The WVURC was created as a not-for-profit corporation in 1985 to support research (R1) at West Virginia University.  We provide evaluation, development, patenting, management, and marketing services for inventions of the faculty, staff and students of the University.

The WVURC receives and administers funds awarded by external agencies for research and other activities and is responsible for helping protect intellectual property through patents, copyrights and licensing agreements for start-up companies based on University research.
