Wellspring of Greenbrier
Wellspring of Greenbrier is a trusted nonprofit in the Meadow River Valley offering services to economically disadvantaged West Virginians. We provide a choice food pantry several times monthly, a Day Haven with free laundry and shower services, a hot meal program monthly and a healthcare advocacy program. In existence for over 20 years, Wellspring is supported by a large community of amazing volunteers, congregational and individual donors and foundation grants. We are a small but mighty nonprofit with two full-time employees and a group of 30-40 volunteers who help sustain our wide range of programming.
The AmeriCorps THRIVE position with Wellspring of Greenbrier will begin on June 1st with an orientation in Charleston run by the WV Hub. The program will conclude after 9 weeks of full-time service with a final program in Charleston on July 31st. Though the position will be hosted by Wellspring, the AmeriCorps grant is facilitated by the WV Hub.
Our AmeriCorps member will be responsible for fundraising event planning for our inaugural yearly fundraiser to be held in September. They will also create and sustain our community partnerships with WV universities including WVSOM, WVU and WVU Tech as we strive to establish a healthcare advocacy and educational program at Wellspring. Finally, our AmeriCorps member will recruit volunteers and help oversee them for our new mobile food pantry project in Rupert, WV. During food pantry and hot meal program days, our AmeriCorps will engage in direct service to support these programs.
We welcome all applicants aged 18 and older. We prefer a high school degree, but that is not required. This is the perfect position for a college student on break for the summer or someone who is interested in gaining valuable nonprofit experience. No college experience is required.
Wellspring of Greenbrier is located at 223 Main St in Rainelle. We are in the office Monday through Thursday from 9am to 4pm and work remotely on Fridays, and our AmeriCorps will be expected to follow this schedule. Juneteenth and July 3rd will be holidays.
