Pay: $1,650.00 per month

Job description:

Tech Express is looking for full-time, half-year AmeriCorps members to start on March 1st and end August 31st. Members will provide direct service to the community in a small business environment, fixing desktop/laptop computers and helping to resolve hardware, software, and networking problems. Part of their role will involve community outreach and marketing for our services and leading educational events and workshops. Members will also support customers who struggle with digital literacy (using email, the internet, basic computer tasks), or want to learn to use a new device, application, or digital medium. Additionally, AmeriCorps members will provide mentorship to our youth technicians, high school students that are able to gain real, paid experience learning to be an IT technician.

AmeriCorps members will serve High Rocks Educational Corporation under the program of Tech Express. Strong candidates have excellent, clear communication and organizational skills, be a team player, have a desire to learn and help build working systems as well as have personal accountability and a good work ethic. A good attitude is also essential.

Benefits include:

  • Living stipend: $825.00 (pre-tax) twice monthly
  • A Segal Education Award of $3,697.50 at successful completion of service (900 hours (40 hr work weeks) between March 2, 2026 and August 31, 2026). This award can be used to pay down existing student debt, or for future educational expenses. AmeriCorps Members will have 7 years to use this award.
  • Any AmeriCorps member completing this half year of service may be eligible for 1 semester of tuition waiver at participating West Virginia colleges, universities and trade schools. Multiple terms can be combined.
  • Health care can be provided if the member does not qualify for Medicaid.
  • Child Care Assistance is also available if needed.
  • Housing is available if requested.
