The West Virginia Rural Engagement Ambassador for Development and Youth (WV READY) program will provide the following support among others:

  • Create a community asset map to determine best avenues to spur outdoor economy in assigned communities
  • Identify outdoor economy plans created, but not quite implemented
  • Help explore you community’s abundant economic opportunities and assets.

Position Details – City of Belington

Stewards Individual Placements (SIP) provides individuals with service and career opportunities to strengthen communities and preserve our natural resources. Participants work with federal agencies, tribal governments, and nonprofits building institutional capacity, developing community relationships, and supporting ecosystem health. SIP in partnership with the Belington Board of Parks are seeking an intern who will help steward the Belington Parks into a new era of sustainability and self-sufficiency through developing and maintaining park facilities and programming opportunities throughout the calendar year and engaging in community strategic planning efforts for future development.

Position Responsibilities will include:

  • Assisting with events and facility rentals at park facilities including the indoor basketball court and outdoor pavilions.
  • Maintaining and improving park facilities and resources.
  • Planning independently and working collaboratively with partner organizations and local businesses to organize community programming opportunities throughout the year – summer park programming, special community events, and winter basketball league.
  • Planning future development of trail systems and park development.

Position Requirements:

  • Must be a US Citizen, National, or Lawful Permanent Resident
  • Able to commit to 9 months service term
  • Position begins in January 2023
  • Must be 18 years old or older
  • Willing to serve in WV service area assigned
  • West Virginia resident preferred
  • High school diploma
  • Drivers License
  • Must be able to work collaboratively with individuals or groups of all walks of life
  • Must be self-motivated, creative problem-solver, and able to take small steps towards big goals
