Position Title: AmeriCorps VISTA Member
Host Organization: LifeBridge AmeriCorps – United Way of Central West Virginia
Position Overview:
As an AmeriCorps VISTA member serving with the United Way of Central West Virginia, you will play a vital role in advancing our mission to mobilize the community and resources to create positive, lasting change. Your service will focus on addressing poverty-related challenges and building capacity within our organization to enhance our ability to address community needs.
Key Responsibilities:
- Resource Development: Collaborate with the United Way team to identify and secure resources that will strengthen our capacity to address poverty in the community. This includes grant writing, fundraising, and partnership development.
- Program Evaluation and Enhancement: Assess existing programs and initiatives, identifying areas for improvement and expansion. Work closely with staff to implement changes that will increase the effectiveness and impact of our services.
- Community Outreach and Engagement: Develop and implement strategies to engage the community in United Way initiatives. This may involve organizing events, conducting outreach, and fostering partnerships with local organizations.
- Data Analysis and Reporting: Compile and analyze data related to poverty and community needs. Create comprehensive reports to measure program outcomes and impact, supporting evidence-based decision-making.
- Capacity Building: Assist in building the organizational capacity of United Way by developing and implementing systems that enhance efficiency and effectiveness in addressing community challenges.
Qualifications:
- Associate’s degree preferred or relevant work experience.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
- Passion for community service and addressing poverty-related issues.
- Familiarity with data analysis and reporting is a plus.
