Job Title: Development Assistant

Starting Salary: $41,280
Location: In office – Charleston, WV
Job Summary: The Development Assistant collaborates with the Development Team under the supervision of the Development Director to synchronize WHC’s development initiatives in West Virginia and Maryland. Responsibilities include managing WHC’s donor database, bolstering fundraising endeavors, contributing innovative ideas to enhance WHC’s creative processes, and assisting in donor cultivation and stewardship under the guidance of the Development Director.
Roles and Responsibilities
- Maintain and manage WHC’s donor database, Little Green Light, regularly inputting all incoming gifts and updating constituent information into the system to ensure accurate records.
- Generate timely gift acknowledgments for both print and email formats, ensuring appropriate leadership signatures are obtained, and manage the process efficiently.
- Coordinate logistics related to development activities, including printing materials, managing mailings, and other operational tasks as needed to facilitate fundraising efforts.
- Create donor-facing communications, including drafting monthly fundraising emails, donor stewardship correspondence, and mid-year and year-end mailings, maintaining consistency with WHC’s brand identity.
- Work collaboratively with the Development Director to execute events and engagement initiatives such as the annual gala, donor tours, volunteer experiences, and special events as planned.
- Support and participate in community outreach and networking events to promote WHC’s mission and foster relationships with potential supporters.
- Support the overall development, implementation, and execution of WHCWV’s fundraising strategy.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by the Development Director.
Requirements

Job Description
- At least 2 years of professional experience.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to function both independently and collaboratively within a team setting.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, Word, and Teams.
- Familiarity with development principles, practices, techniques, and prevailing trends are preferred, but not required.
