The Kump Education Center, a 501(c)3 non-profit serving Elkins and surrounding counties, is
currently seeking a part-time administrative assistant. .This new position will support the Kump
Education Center’s mission and goals of providing professional development for teachers,
academic support for students, outdoor educational opportunities, and honor the heritage of
Gov. H.G. Kump and family.
Position Summary
The Kump Education Center Administrative Assistant will work collaboratively with the Executive
Director and Board of Directors to support the mission of the Kump Education Center and
represent its values when interacting with members and the local community .. The successful
applicant will support the efficient operation of the organization.
Key Responsibilities
- Schedule meetings, make phone calls, distribute emails, and send thank-you notes.
- Provides information to the board of directors about events, meeting schedules and
distribute required board materials.
- Draft communications and reports, respond to public inquiries through phone or email.
Coordinate and keep calendar of events , order supplies, and assist with at least two
large mailings a year,
- Work with the Director on archiving and filing documents. Devise and maintain an
inventory system for Kump Education Center household items and collectibles.
- Be primary point person for security, technological and maintenance issues.
- Encourage program evaluations by summarizing and recording feedback and organizing
all sign-in sheets.
- Support educational and special projects which may include scheduling, coordinating,
and supporting events, camps, lectures, workshops, classes, and tutoring opportunities .
- Assist with fundraising
- Create, maintain and coordinate active list of the Kump Education Center volunteer
base.
- Other duties as assigned.
Contribute to increased community engagement
- Promote the Kump Education Center through social media, press releases, print
materials and other communication outlets.
- Provide public tours on designated days and help with special events.
- Apply for and administer grants that will support the historic and educational mission of
the Kump Education Center.
- Assist with fundraising and mailing efforts.
- Contribute to the visibility of the organization by representing the Kump Education
Center at community events as needed
- Bring ideas from events, meetings, etc. back to the organization to enhance our on-
going effort to expand and respond to the needs of the community.
Skills and Requirements
- Office/communications work experience .
- Excellent public relations skill
- Experience with grant-writing preferred.
- Outstanding verbal/written communication skills.
- Experience and knowledge in use of Word, Excel, PowerPoint.
- Experience with membership databases, and social media design would be an asset.
- Ability to handle multiple tasks, projects, and priorities effectively and professionally.
- Must be willing to work a flexible schedule that will include occasional weekend hours

Subject to a non-finding background check.
Part-time: 20 hours/week (1,040 hours/year) to start
Salary: Negotiable depending on experience: Approximately $15,000-$20,000, non – benefited.
The employee would work in an office at the Kump Education Center. There is non-paid time
off for vacations/holidays .
