Chief Financial Officer – Generation West Virginia
Generation West Virginia (GWV) is seeking a Chief Financial Officer (CFO) who will work within a dynamic workplace of talented and committed team members to help the organization grow strategically and organizationally. As a member of the Executive Leadership Team, the CFO will help to set organizational strategy, align financial management systems and resources to help achieve strategy, and play a leading role in assessing needs, improving or replacing systems, and in proposing structural changes necessary to position GWV for the future. This will be the first role of its kind within the organization and the CFO will have a unique opportunity to help GWV expand its impact during an exciting moment in the organization’s growth.
About Generation West Virginia
GWV was founded in 2007 to reverse population loss and the outmigration of talent by helping to establish the Mountain State as an ideal destination for young talent. GWV is the statewide organization dedicated to attracting, retaining, and advancing young people in the Mountain State. We achieve this by:
- Developing and sustaining an activated, diverse network of young people
- Providing accessible programs and educational tools that empower and inspire young leaders
- Identifying and communicating the priorities, motivations, and needs of the next generation of West Virginians
- Supporting West Virginia’s workforce needs by connecting young people to jobs and opportunities in the Mountain State
We are working toward a vision of West Virginia where challenges are seen as opportunities, young people are drivers in our state’s future, and the Mountain State is a destination for young talent to live, work, and thrive.
GWV is at a pivotal moment organizationally. Having achieved a proven track record of success with its signature programs: NewForce, Broadband, and the GWV Fellowship, the organization is now expanding its workforce, fellowship, and job placement programs through a significant investment of public and private funds. As the workforce development lead for the Appalachian Climate Technology Now Coalition (“Act Now Coalition”), GWV will be leading efforts with partners across the state to grow a digital technology and green collar workforce in WV. As part of the GWV leadership team, the CFO will play a significant role in helping GWV to achieve the greatest impact for West Virginians during this moment of economic transformation.

The CFO will ensure internal financial and operations capabilities allow GWV to accurately and efficiently develop and execute budgets, and effectively manage federal, state, and private grants and attract continued investment. The CFO will supervise one staff member and have the ability to engage consultants and contractors to assist with financial management.

Salary, Benefits and Where You’ll Work
The starting salary for this role is $80,000.
