Raleigh County Prevention Coalition, Inc

Description of Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Recruit and communicate regularly with community members and sector representatives to serve on the Raleigh County Prevention Coalition.
  • Facilitate 12-Month Action Plan for Drug-Free Community Grant;
  • Assist with orientation and trainings for coalition members;
  • Coordinate and attend coalition meetings;
  • Work with coalition members and youth to develop and evaluate the comprehensive Strategic Prevention Framework activities for the Coalition;
  • Coordinate activities in the development and schedule coalition volunteers to be involved;
  • Provide supervision and support to youth at the youth drop-in center;
  • Attend grant required meetings and trainings:
  • Initiate community educational sessions and participation in community events
  • Provide support to the youth leader of Students Against Destructive Decisions (SADD)
  • Other duties, as assigned.

Qualifications Required for the Position: Bachelor’s Degree in a related field and experience with prevention activities and community organizing. Other combinations of experience and
education that meet the minimum qualifications may be substituted. Completion of a WVCARES background check and a CPS/APS background check.

Supervisory Requirements: Supervision of Project Assistant

Skills and Knowledge Required for the Position:

  • Knowledge of the nature of substance use disorders.
  • Knowledge of Prevention Strategies
  • Knowledge of Community Coalition principles and partnership development
  • Working knowledge of office equipment, such as computers and printers
  • Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with individuals, schools, community-based organizations, businesses, faith-based organizations, and other local
    agencies.
  • Proficiency in MS Office (MS Excel and MS PowerPoint, in particular)
  • Excellent time management skills and the ability to prioritize work
  • Attention to detail and problem solving skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to multi-task
  • Ability to communicate effectively, work independently, and use computer applications.

Amount of Travel: Local, statewide, and regional occasionally required, but limited.

Salary Range: $18-$20 per hour; full-time position; 40 hours/week.

Supervision: This position is directly supervised by the Executive Director.
