Entry Level Data Engineer (PADO, a startup supported by LG NOVA)

As we scale, we’re looking for a motivated entry level Data Engineer who owns a self-starter mindset with the confidence that they can change the world through their work. PADO strongly values team players and employees who are always respectful with a “colleague- and customer-first” mentality. While PADO will provide all on-the-job training as necessary, PADO expects all candidates to be capable of independently solving challenging technical tasks by the end of their first year.
What You’ll Do:
- Assisting in Data Pipeline Development. Help design, develop, and maintain ETL/ELT pipelines to move and transform data from diverse sources into our data systems.
- Managing Data Storage. Learn about and contribute to the management of various databases, including relational (SQL) and potentially NoSQL databases, and assist in designing optimal data schemas.
- Ensuring Data Quality. Implement and monitor data quality checks to ensure our data is accurate, complete, and consistent. You’ll help troubleshoot and resolve data discrepancies.
- Scripting & Automation. Write and maintain scripts (primarily in Python and SQL) to automate data processes and monitor pipeline health.
- Cloud Platform Engagement. Gain hands-on experience with cloud data services (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP) as you assist in building scalable data solutions.
- Troubleshooting & Optimization. Help identify and resolve issues within existing data pipelines and look for opportunities to improve data processes.
- Collaborating with Stakeholders. Work closely with senior data engineers, data scientists, and analysts to understand data requirements and deliver reliable datasets.
- Documenting Processes. Create clear and concise documentation for data pipelines, models, and processes to foster knowledge sharing and maintainability.
- Continuous Learning. Stay curious and updated with the latest trends and technologies in data engineering, continuously expanding your skill set.
Qualifications:
- All full-time candidates will need to have completed or be on-track to complete a 4-year degree by June 2025 with a minimum GPA of 3.0.
- Candidates having demonstrated experience completing independent software or data projects are particularly welcome.
- Data engineer candidates must have completed coursework in the following topics: statistics, calculus, differential equations, numerical programming with Python or R, and object-oriented programming in Python, C/C++ or Java.
- Coursework in the following optional topics are strongly desired: general chemistry, general physics, thermodynamics, physical chemistry, AI/ML, and/or energy efficiency.
- Knowledge of the following software technologies are preferred: C#, Python, Numpy/Pandas, React, Dash, Docker, Unix, PostgreSQL, Javascript, Bootstrap, CSS, GitHub. Knowledge of AWS, data lakes, and/or serverless architectures are pluses.
- All candidates should be prepared to complete a technical assessment, in addition to standard interviews.

Salary: $80K, but may be adjusted depending on experience and qualifications. PADO also offers performance-based annual bonus, company equity, 401K and healthcare benefits.
Location: This position will be on site at our Morgantown, West Virginia office.
