Gaithersburg, MD based bio-medical company looking for an Industrial Refrigeration Technician to work full-time.

Education/Experience Requirements

  • High School/GED + Technical College
  • EPA Universal (Type 1, 2, & 3) Certification
  • 10+ years of experience in various refrigeration systems
  • At least a year of experience in cascaded refrigeration systems

Technical Responsibilities

  • Install, service, troubleshoot and repair refrigeration systems and equipment such as condensing units, compressors, evaporators, walk-in freezers, coolers, dehumidification systems, RTUs (Rooftop AC Units), chillers, and other industrial refrigeration equipment.
  • Charge system with proper type of refrigerant according to specification.
  • Connect refrigeration lines, electrical power sources, handle hazardous refrigerant substances, check systems and equipment for leaks.
  • Use system blueprints or manufacturers’ instructions to complete a job.
  • Perform preventative maintenance in order to avoid future problems or breakdowns.
  • Observe and test system operation and performance using gauges and instruments
  • Adjust or replace worn or defective mechanisms and parts and reassemble repaired systems.
  • Braze or solder parts to repair defective joints and leaks.
  • Install expansion and control valves, using acetylene torches and wrenches.
  • Perform mechanical overhauls and refrigerant reclaiming.
  • Work with various types of pumps such as vacuum pumps, circulation pumps, and oil pumps
  • Mount compressor, condenser, and other components in specific locations on frames, using hand tools and acetylene welding equipment.

Other Responsibilities/Requirements

  • Communicate with supervisors, peers, or subordinates — providing information to supervisors, co-workers, and subordinates by telephone, in written form, e-mail, or in person.
  • Keep records of refrigerants, repairs and replacements made and causes of malfunctions.
  • Think creatively — developing, designing, or creating new applications, ideas, relationships, systems, or products.
  • Willingness to learn quickly about the various equipment
  • You would work around 40 hours a week and may work overtime
  • Available to work on-call 24/7 for emergencies as
  • Wear protective gear, safety goggles, safety boots, etc when performing mechanical tasks
  • Valid Driver’s License
  • Candidates must pass a standard employee background check for job site security purposes.
