OPERATIONS & DATA ANALYST
Position Description
The Operations and Data Analyst plays a central role in strengthening the operational infrastructure of the West Virginia Office of Energy. Reporting directly to the Deputy Director, this position is responsible for gathering, analyzing, and making visible the operational data and performance metrics that inform leadership decision-making.
This role will evaluate how the Office is functioning across programs, identify trends and performance indicators, and produce clear, structured reporting that supports operational accountability, grant compliance, and strategic planning. Success in this role requires strong analytical ability, attention to detail, and the capacity to translate data into actionable operational insight.
Essential Duties
- Gather, analyze, and track program-level and operational data data from staff, contractors, and partners to monitor progress toward agency goals
- Develop and maintain operational dashboards, performance metrics, and reporting tools that provide leadership with clear visibility into office activities
- Produce structure reports, summaries, and data visualizations for senior leadership
- Evaluate internal workflows and data collection processes to improve operational efficiency and reporting accuracy
- Coordinate with program managers to standardize performance tracking and operational documentation
- Maintain organized internal records and ensure accurate compilation of compliance and grand documentation
- Other duties as assigned
Expected Skills & Experience
- 2+ years of experience in operations, data analysis, program evaluation, or organizational performance support
- Strong working knowledge of Google Sheets, Microsoft Excel, and/or other data and spreadsheet tools
- Excellent organizational and written communication skills
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines
- Comfortable learning and navigating new digital platforms or project tracking systems
Preferred Skills & Experience
- Experience creating reports, dashboards, or internal planning documents
- Familiarity with state agency operations or grant-supported project documentation
- Experience coordinating internal workflows or documentation systems across teams
- Background in business administration, public administration, or information systems
Desired Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Public Administration, Data Analytics, or related field preferred
PLEASE NOTE: This is a grant-funded, multi-year contract position, and is contingent on continued availability of federal funding.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $50,000.00 – $60,000.00 per year
