As a Tool and Die Technician, you will be integral to the manufacturing process, responsible for creating and maintaining precision tools and dies used in production. Reporting to the Production Manager, you will utilize your core skills in machining, mechanical knowledge, and precision measuring instruments to ensure high-quality output.
JOB SUMMARY
Assist die makers, leads, supervisors, and manager in day-to-day activities in the tool room, with a willingness to change priorities at any time. Performs scheduled and unscheduled tool and die making/repairs. Always working to improve dies to allow the plant to run as efficient as possible, and ensure we produce parts that meet the customer’s specifications.
DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES

- Ability to read 3D and 2D designs
- Assure all safety devices are properly in place and utilized, Lockout/Tagout procedures are adhered to, PPE is worn correctly at all times, and reporting of any near-misses, injuries, or accidents occurs immediately.
- Keep work area clean and orderly to prevent safety hazards.
- Assure adherence to quality policies and procedures including acceptable work standards, customer specifications and IPI requirements, to also include participation in the creation and support of systems, documentation and actions to ensure continued conformance to Quality (IATF) and Environmental (ISO) management systems.
- Observe and follow company policies and maintain proper standards of conduct at all times.

KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES
- Computer proficiency – Outlook, Word, Excel, and SAP is a plus
- Understanding of Kaizen and Lean Manufacturing is a plus
- Reporting out on tooling downtime/KPI’s
- Understanding of TS16949 or IATF as it relates to this department
- Must be able to use and explain how to use precision/hand tools as they relate to tool and die
- Must have knowledge on the operation of manual machines, such as, mills, lathes, saws, and different grinders
- Must have knowledge of welding applications, spotting application, the operations of a CNC, not how to operate it and GD&T as it relates to part prints
- Must be able to read and interpret CMM reports and scan data as it relates to dies and part quality
- Competent in new die construction, and all the stages that lead up to buy off
- Knowledge of hot stamping technologies, setting dies in a press and rebuilding standard die components
EXPERIENCE REQUIRED: HS Diploma or GED / Manufacturing experience required / Journeyman or comparable experience
- Understand and comply with all OSHA, safety and PPE requirements.
- Die setup per company standards.
- Troubleshoot upkeep, preventive maintenance, dimensional capability, developing and continuous improvement of various tools, dies, jigs and fixtures for cold/hot stamping and robotic welding.
- Fabricate new and repair replacement details for robotic weld cells, spot weld cells; assemble, build and maintain fixtures.
- Continual involvement with quality, cost savings and tool, die and mechanical improvements.
- Utilize the following equipment to complete necessary building/repair of fixtures:
- Hand and precision tools
- Mills
- Grinders
- Welders
- Read and apply blueprints, and engineering changes
- Understand quality requirements to ensure fixtures comply with customer requirements.
- Apply Production Escalation Process as required.
- Daily 5S and work area organization
