Casey Patterson, NewForce Program Director

Casey joined Generation West Virginia as the NewForce Program Director in May 2024. Casey has spent the last 10 years working in higher education across the country, primarily serving in student-centered roles in athletics, advising and retention, and academic support programs. After a stint supporting faculty and students at Oregon State University’s College of Engineering, he returned to West Virginia in 2022 to take a position with the West Virginia Higher Education Policy Commission and WV GEAR UP. In this role, he oversaw the implementation of a college access and success grant in high-need counties throughout the state, supporting students’ career and educational development and, ultimately, West Virginia’s workforce.

Having lived in 7 different states, the Buckhannon native is thrilled to have returned home to the Mountain State. Like many West Virginians, Casey’s family has lived in these hills for many generations and he is excited to share Generation West Virginia’s mission and work with the people who dwell here. He understands the unique culture, needs, and strengths of West Virginia and its people and will share those things with anyone who will listen.

Casey holds a Bachelor of Science in Exercise Science from Waynesburg University and a Master of Education from Springfield College. He and his wife, Kaitlin, reside in Buckhannon, where they are raising their four children (with a lot of help from their family!).
