Casey Patterson, a Buckhannon native, spent a decade working in higher education before returning to West Virginia in 2022. Specializing in student success and retention, he held roles at the University of Memphis, Western Carolina University, the University of the Incarnate Word (TX), and Oregon State University. Upon returning home, Casey spent two years with the West Virginia Higher Education Policy Commission (HEPC) before joining Generation WV.
As the NewForce Program Director, Casey oversees the program’s overall direction and operations, including admissions and recruitment, employer outreach, strategic planning, grant reporting, and staff supervision.
For Casey, the most fulfilling part of his work is when a NewForce graduate shares that they have been hired. Seeing students take the next step in their careers is what drives his commitment to the program.
Outside of work, Casey spends most of his free time with his wife and kids. He also enjoys exploring state and national parks whenever he gets the chance.
