Nelson grew up working on a farm in Wayne County, West Virginia. In his professional career, he has worked with a variety of private businesses as well as non-profit organizations to innovate and improve their business practices. Prior to joining Generation WV, Nelson worked for Coalfield Development Corporation and The Marshall Advanced Manufacturing Center.
Nelson earned a Bachelor of Business Administration in Management from Marshall University and is certified as a Lean Six Sigma Green Belt through The Ohio State University. He also completed the Better Process Controls school at Virginia Tech University’s Department of Food Science and Technology, and ISO 9001 and Internal Auditor training through Marshall University Advanced Manufacturing Center.
He continues to live on the family farm near Huntington with his wife Kyla, his son, Parker and daughter, Piper.
