NewForce Demo Day Showcases West Virginia’s Next Generation of Data Talent

NewForce’s Demo Day marked a major milestone for Cohort 10 and an exciting opportunity for employers across West Virginia. Over five months, these aspiring data analysts tackled real-world challenges in healthcare, environmental science, public policy, economic development, and more.
 
At Demo Day, they unveiled capstone projects built with tools like Python, Tableau, and Power BI, showing off their ability to analyze data, communicate insights, and solve problems across sectors. With diverse professional backgrounds and hands-on experience, these  job-ready graduates are prepared to meet the data needs of today’s workforce.
 

Fellowship

From Strengths to Strategy: GWV Fellows Begin Their Journey of Professional Growth

The 2025 Generation West Virginia Fellowship kicked off this month with an exciting first session in Morgantown. Fellows participated in a CliftonStrengths workshop facilitated by WVU Purpose Center, a behind-the-scenes tour of Mylan Puskar Stadium, and an engaging deep dive into  NASA’s IV&V Program in Fairmont.

Fellows also connected with local leaders during a panel highlighting young public servants in Marion County, enjoyed regional cuisine, and explored local innovation with Ascend WV and Vantage Ventures.

Fellows continued their journey last week with their first virtual session, diving deeper into their personal brand with a workshop led by Jessie Barclay of the WVU Purpose Center, as a follow-up session from their CliftonStrengths assessment.
