Four distinguished West Virginians have joined Generation West Virginia’s Board of Directors, bringing valuable expertise and vision to the organization. Generation West Virginia – the statewide organization dedicated to equipping young West Virginians with the skills, opportunities and support they need to thrive – welcomes: Crescent Gallagher, Liz Vitullo, Ryan Thorn and Bill Bissett.
“These new board members bring a wealth of experience and a shared commitment to making West Virginia a place where young people can build vibrant, fulfilling lives,” said Alex Weld, executive director of Generation West Virginia. “Their diverse expertise and leadership will help guide our work as we continue to expand opportunities across the Mountain State.”
Crescent Gallagher is the Senior Advisor to the West Virginia Treasurer’s Office. With a background in public policy and strategic communications, Crescent has worked to elevate West Virginia’s economic development efforts and promote the state as a premier destination for business and talent. He previously served as Director of Agriculture Business Development and Communications/Legislative Liaison at the West Virginia Department of Agriculture, where he spearheaded initiatives to support local farmers and agriculture-based entrepreneurs.

Liz Vitullo serves as the Assistant Vice President for Economic Innovation at West Virginia University. In her role, she supports economic development efforts, workforce initiatives and other special projects to enhance economic prosperity for the state. Vitullo is also the co-founder of the WV Grant Resource Centers, the program director for the Chambers Elite Climbers and the director of Strategic Initiatives for the Cyber-Resilience Resource Center. Prior to her current position, she held multiple roles at the John Chambers College of Business and Economics, including assistant dean for strategic initiatives and assistant dean for graduate programs.

Ryan Thorn is the Associate Vice President for External Affairs and Strategic Partnerships at West Virginia Wesleyan College. A 2007 alumnus of the institution, Ryan returned to his alma mater in 2025 to lead the college’s engagement with corporate, foundation, and government stakeholders across the state and region. He previously served as the State Director for USDA Rural Development in West Virginia, where he oversaw investments in critical infrastructure, housing, and business programs that strengthened rural communities throughout the state. Ryan also held roles in economic development and public service, including serving as Economic Development Manager for U.S. Senator Joe Manchin III.

Bill Bissett is the Director of the West Virginia Manufacturers Association. A veteran leader in business and industry advocacy, Bill has dedicated his career to supporting manufacturing and economic development throughout the state. Bissett previously served as State Director for United States Senator Shelley Moore Capito. Prior to his role with Senator Capito, Bissett led the Huntington Regional Chamber of Commerce in his hometown of Huntington.
