As Executive Director, Robbie Skinner leads Generation West Virginia’s statewide efforts to attract, retain, and advance young professionals while strengthening the state’s workforce and economic future. A lifelong West Virginian and passionate advocate for his home state, Robbie is focused on expanding opportunity pipelines, strengthening employer engagement, and positioning West Virginia as a place where young professionals can build meaningful careers and fulfilling lives.
Before joining Generation West Virginia, Robbie built a diverse professional portfolio spanning banking, insurance, real estate development, and business consulting. In both commercial banking and insurance, he advised middle-market and small business clients on integrated financial solutions. As an entrepreneur, he founded The Squire on Main, a fine jewelry store in downtown Buckhannon, and has led additional ventures focused on revitalization and long-term economic investment in West Virginia communities.
Robbie also serves as Mayor of the City of Buckhannon, where he oversees strategic capital planning, infrastructure improvements, and beautification initiatives that continue to position the city as one of the most dynamic and forward-thinking small communities in the Appalachian region.
Throughout his career, Robbie has been actively involved in statewide leadership and community development. He has served on the Executive Board of the West Virginia Municipal League, collaborated with legislators on policies that support municipal growth, and worked on regional planning and development initiatives that strengthen communities across the state.
A graduate of West Virginia Wesleyan College, Robbie holds a Bachelor of Arts in Public Relations with a concentration in Marketing, along with minors in Political Science and Business Administration. His professional recognitions include being named a “Young Gun” by West Virginia Executive, “Citizen of the Year” by the Buckhannon-Upshur Chamber of Commerce, and a featured landscape photographer for Tamarack: The Best of West Virginia.
