YNST (You’re Not Seeing Things) Magazine is seeking a paid, fully remote student intern for a 6-month contract. This role requires approx. 10 hours a week and will offer hands-on graphic design, social media management and digital marketing experience.

YNST Magazine is a print & digital media company dedicated to amplifying the unseen creative voices of Appalachia’s arts & culture. We are on a mission to portray home with a contemporary, colorful lens by capturing the region’s vital storytellers, unique designers, impactful photographers, dynamic artists and underrepresented perspectives. Through our quarterly magazine and digital content we offer emerging creatives in West Virginia and greater Appalachia an unprecedented platform to spotlight their work.

Duties:

  • Create compelling campaigns across multiple social media channels
  • Design original, dynamic graphics and short-form video to share across social media
  • Track social media engagement to identify high-performing ideas and campaigns for scalability with special attention towards expansion on Twitter (X) and Facebook.
  • Independently research and identify Appalachian arts and culture creative content to curate and feature on social media
  • Engage with followers across platforms
  • Develop new strategies for increasing engagement
  • Ensure brand messaging and voice is consistent with our target audience

Qualifications:

  • Degree seeking student pursuing a relevant degree path in marketing, journalism, design, art, etc. OR emerging professional with comparative experience
  • Excellent written and visual communication skills
  • In-depth working knowledge of core social media platforms
  • Notable experience with graphic design software (Canva, Adobe Creative Suite, etc.)
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
  • Creative and energetic mindset
  • Proven interest in the Appalachian region is a plus
  • Proven interest in the arts, fashion, writing and photography is a plus
