Until we reverse this number, West Virginia will continue to see its tax base decline. We cannot afford to ignore our outmigration of young people as they are a key economic driver. In a 21st-century knowledge-based economy, young talent retention, attraction, and advancement now play an even more decisive role in economic success.

The 2018 Legislative Session is officially underway, and we are committed to making sure lawmakers know that West Virginia’s future depends on passing policies that champion initiatives to attract, retain and advance young talent.

That’s why this year, we’ll be shedding light on some striking statistics about factors impacting West Virginia’s next generation. We’ll be sharing these stats with lawmakers at the Capitol but also with changemakers all over the state because we believe, now more than ever, that the future success of our state depends on how we address these trends.
