What to Expect as a Fellow

Over the course of a year, there are nine sessions — five in-person and four virtual. Fellows are required to attend no less than seven sessions, with attendance of all highly encouraged.

In-Person Sessions

Fellows will experience a total of five in-person sessions, traveling to a variety of locations around the state. These two-day sessions require fellows to arrive Thursday morning with check-out taking place on Saturday morning.

Virtual Sessions

During virtual sessions, fellows attend two-hour interactive meetings on Friday mornings.

Who is it for?

The GWV Fellowship is for emerging and mid-career West Virginians who want to advance in their careers and support the Mountain State as it continues to evolve.

We are a firm believer that y’all means all: the Fellowship celebrates and welcomes people of different cultures, backgrounds, and viewpoints. While our program serves individuals across all identities, we encourage and welcome Black, Indigenous, People of Color, and LGBTQIA+ folks to apply.

Costs and Fees

The Fellowship program fee is $2,500 and goes toward covering the cost of the retreats. There is no additional cost to Fellows beyond this fee. All lodging, food, travel, and activities are included in this cost.

Covered by Employers

The Fellowship is an excellent retention tool. We urge employers to consider covering the cost of the Fellowship for any employee who is selected to take part in the program.
