Digital Opportunity Planning

Through the Connect Humanity Appalachia Digital Accelerator initiative, Generation West Virginia partnered with the WV Office of Broadband, Regional Optical Communications, and local leaders across 18 West Virginia counties to craft Digital Equity Plans that reflect the unique needs of our neighbors.   From improving internet affordability to boosting digital literacy, these plans are built on community feedback and are designed to unlock new funding and opportunities. These plans position communities to secure partnerships and funding needed to meet their digital inclusion goals. Together, we’re making sure West Virginians aren’t just getting online—they’re leading the way.

Why is Digital Inclusion Planning Important?

Digital inclusion planning ensures that technology serves the people, not the other way around. It is the key to bridging the gap between simply having a connection and actually being able to use it. GWV Broadband champions this process to ensure that local solutions, like affordable rates, hands-on training, and device access, are built into the community’s future. These plans aren’t just documents; they are the foundation for a more connected and capable workforce.and a more connected community.

What is Digital Inclusion?

Digital Inclusion refers to the activities and projects necessary to ensure that all individuals and communities have access to and use of Information and Communications Technologies.
